KSB Pegnitz Werk
From a Century of Founding Legends to a Pioneer of Intelligent Manufacturing
In Germany's Upper Franconia region lies Pegnitz, a pivotal hub for the KSB Group's operations.
From the roaring machines of the steam age to the quiet precision of Industry 4.0, this place preserves a century of industrial legacy. Smart manufacturing serves as the group's digital engine for future growth. Today, let's turn the pages of history to explore the factory's journey through the ages.
A Century of Origin丨From "Opponents" to "One Family"
The history of the Pegnitz factory traces back to 1854, when Johann Hilpert founded AMAG (Armaturen-und Maschinenfabrik AG, Valve and Machinery Manufacturing AG).
The pivotal moment in the story occurred during the 1920s. At that time, Kiesberg was on par with AMAG, which operated two factories in Nuremberg and Pegnitz, with highly complementary product lines.

In 1921, Kiesberg established business relations with AMAG, marking the beginning of their initial commercial collaboration.
In 1924, KSB made its first acquisition of AMAG shares, driven by strategic complementarity considerations.
In early 1930, Cassie's stake in AMAG reached 54%. Interestingly, the two companies remained' competitors' in external markets for several years thereafter.
1959: As the times progressed, AMAG was fully absorbed by KSB, merging the technological expertise of these two industrial giants. This integration laid the solid foundation for the Pegnitz plant we know today.
Hardcore Strength丨Material Science and Manufacturing
The century-old spirit of craftsmanship, after being refined by modernization, has been revitalized with renewed vitality.
Today, the Pegnitz plant has grown into one of KSB Group's largest and most modern facilities, employing around 1,600 staff and standing as a true manufacturing hub.

The facility houses a Materials Technology Capability Center, featuring state-of-the-art foundries and material laboratories to guarantee premium quality from the initial production phase. Its manufacturing capabilities span core industrial sectors including pump systems, power plant valves, and mechanical seals.
Smart Manufacturing丨Pioneers of Digital Transformation
History is not just about nostalgia, but about creating a better future.
The Pegnitz plant serves not only as a manufacturing hub, but also as a pioneering hub for KSB's digital transformation and metal 3D printing.
Here, traditional casting techniques coexist with advanced additive manufacturing technologies, where data flows drive production processes. The Pegnitz plant is pioneering the next century of manufacturing through pilot initiatives, delivering smarter and more efficient fluid transportation solutions to global clients.
From the roaring flow of molten iron in 1854 to today's 3D-printed laser flashes, the Pegnitz plant has consistently stood at the forefront of industrial technology. It not only bears witness to KSB's developmental journey but also epitomizes our relentless pursuit of technological innovation.

Founded in 1871 in Frankenthal, Germany, the KSB Group has grown over 150 years into a global leader in pumps, valves, and related services. Guided by its brand philosophy 'Solutions. For Life' (Solutions. For Life), the company employs over 16,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries.
